In addition to earthworks projects and work platform rental, complex heavy transport jobs at national and international level are part of the core business of the Austrian company Obermair. For the transport of a 22-metre-long tank, two challenges stood out in particular.
First, it was no easy task to define the exact route profile between the starting point in Thomasroith and the destination in Lambach.
"The total vehicle length of 30 metres made it demanding, because some narrow local crossings had to be mastered in the course of the route," reports company manager Alexander Obermair about the preparatory work, which then turned out successfully in reality.
"Thanks to the hydraulically steered independent wheel suspension of our 4-axle MultiMAX low-loader from Faymonville, the passages were mastered with flying colours."
Tank was scrapped
The 26-tonne, 3-metre diameter tank left an imposing sight to observers as the rig traversed some 30 kilometres through northern Austria.
"In general, what we appreciate about Faymonville vehicles is the wide range of different trailers," says Alexander Obermair, citing the variety of options that cover all the different transport needs at Obermair.
The low-loader transport with the tank also reached its unloading point on time, where the 22-metre object will now be sent for scrapping.
